A single moment in time.

by Mike

If a moment is lost, if for any reason, a precious moment is missed or carelessly over looked, it will never come back. In fact, the affect of missing that moment can haunt you for the rest of your life.

If I am to learn from the lessons of my past, my current plans of life needs my constant attention so that I will not miss a single precious moment. Maybe at times, I will seem to have changed from the person I have always been. Maybe I may seem selfish at times but as I am re-evaluating what my life means to me. After my short life has been lived and I become less than just a memory in this world, what is my accomplishments. I have to think that it is the moments that were created and not missed by me and because of me.

Getting married and living a life of a modern day man with a new family has taught me alot and made me question alot. Many lessons learned from those who have already been at this new stage in life longer than I have taught me so much more than I could have imagined. Life for myself have a meaning for sure but there is something more. Religion usually is a common answer to this “something more” but I think more closely, I think I am beginning to see what family really does mean. It’s not just blood ties.. It’s not just the group of people living together. It’s more. It’s purpose and it’s continued dedication to each other. The inherent trust of each member to each other in that my interest is looked after even if I am not involved.

A moment.. Just a single moment decides our fate. What is will I make of a single moment to decide on my family’s fate?

  1. I read this a while back, and every morning I come by this entry again. Haven’t commented because I’m not really sure what to say, except that being in the here and now — that is, being fully in the present and enjoying each moment — is something that we should all strive for. The past is the past, and though it affects us for who we are today, it shouldn’t be left alone to dictate our future: instead, it’s our present that shapes both the past and the future.

    Thank you, and good night.

  2. I think our present is what was shaped by our past and shapes our future. If there is a moment or moments in our past that have shaped us into someone or something we aren’t happy with in our present, I think we should try to shape our moments in the present to make us a better person in the future.

In other words, if you made a boo-boo in the past, fix it now, so you’ll be a better person in the future :)
